From the recording Pillar of Light
Over 200 years ago a young 14 year old boy entered a grove of trees by his house with one purpose: to pray. He had been promised in James 1:5 that "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him". And as He has so many times before, the Lord answered Him. But unlike most prayers,
God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ came down to answer this young boy's prayer personally!
"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me," he said "when the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other- this is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" (Joseph Smith History 1:16-17)
In a world that so desperately still needs its creator, we are likewise invited to "ask of God". Take our questions, fears, doubts to Him. We may not all receive the kind of answer that the young Joseph Smith received, but the Lord still speaks to His children and wants nothing more than to give little rays of light, truth and peace to any and all who will come to Him!!
Lyrics
A boy lost in confusion
seeking guidance from above
Entered a grove with just one question
he simply asked the God of Love
Then the darkness left and all was still and then
Chorus
A pillar of light appeared before his eyes
bringing peace to his mind
an end to years of night
A pillar of light
A boy the world rejected,
They cried this can not be
Why would a God come to a child
But he knew what he had seen
When the darkness left and all was still and then
Chorus
A pillar of light appeared before his eyes
Bringing peace to his mind
An end to years of night
A pillar of light
In a world where darkness lingers
In each soul we yearn for truth
But a loving Father still give light
And in our hearts we feel the proof
Chorus
That a pillar of light appeared before his eyes
Bringing peace to his mind
And hope for all mankind
A pillar of light
